Finds from the last week

Found lots of pennies,and 9 silver coins in a paddock next to the Mangawhai pub.The mans 9kt ring came just out from the surf club.
We are now at Uretiti beach ,found two nice 18kt ladys rings, the diamond is not real unfortunately

1846 sixpence

Here are the results of my last weeks finds,all the modern coins etc came from east coast beaches,the 1846 sixpence came from an old west coast house site.Lots more sinkers of cause, now I leave them on a fence post for fishermen. :

Gold & Silver

We are at Whangaparoa, the detecting is pretty hard going,not only are beaches sanded up but this area gets a pretty hard time from other detectorists.But I did manage around $30 in a grass carparking area. The. 375 white gold ring came from out in the mud,and the silver ring from the hard wet sand.'

Back on the road again

Well we are back on the road after working for the winter,managed to put a few dollars in the bank,so now its time to get serious about detecting again.Haha it has taken us 10 days to travel 50 kms,we stopped at Omokoroa,Waihi beach for 3 days,then Waihi for 2 days.And now Paeroa.
  I have managed coins and a few bits and pieces at most of our stops although the beaches are pretty hard going,anyone want some sinkers I have 26kgs of them in the back of the ute,I am on the lookout for a commercial fisherman,The gold ring came from Omokoroa,and the wee pendent from Waihi beach,I had a run of threepences at an old park at Waihi the oldest is 1933,also managed a few dollars for bread and milk etc.The old bullets came from Sulpher point out in the mud,I suspect they may have been police issue,all the silver cleaned up ok,but I have my doubts about the larger bracelet,even though it is marked sterling.

results from the last few hunts

Thought I had better post a few finds from my last 6 or so outings,I did a bit of homework and spent several hours at a beach that is rarely used now, but a few years ago it was a very popular water skiing and swimming area.Not all the items came from that beach,the mens gold ring came from another now rarely used beach,most of the sinkers and the older coins including two halfcrowns and 3 threepences I found after a storm that washed away loads of sand exposing lots of coins and of course half a ton of sinkers,yip you got it at a boat ramp.Three of the ladies watches all came from within ten metres of each other,my guess is they were dumped at some stage years ago,the forth watch came from Papamoa beach.Its blowing a gale outside and I can just visualise all those gold rings getting tossed up onto the beach hahahaha

My second best find.....yippeeeeee

We spend the Easter break at Whitianga camping with the company of my Daughter and Grandson from Aussie,when I arrived I couldn't help but notice the main beach (Buffalo Beach) was severally rough and the waves had gouged out a hollow in the beach frontage.Well I think I had the camper all set up within the hour and promptly headed to the beach,I found my first gold ring and two silvers along with about 60 odd coins of all denominations.For the next 4 days I went back on the low tides,although most of the finds came from the mid tide area.The two other gold rings came on day 4,they were a big buzz,but not as big as my next find in an area that I found a couple of older coins 1903 threepence and a penny and halfpenny all from the turn of the century,I got a 12:36 signal,thinking it was just another sinker,when I dug down shining back at me was this gold coloured coin,straight away I new it was not a $1 or $2 coin,when I picked it up then I knew it was a goodie,and would you believe the date .......1846......wow .I think I spent the next 10 -15 minutes sitting on a rock and just admired this unreal coin.Turns out it is a half sovereign and the condition in the photos is the way it came out of the sand,I can only assume it has been in the sand for the best part of 150 years.Sure feel for the poor beggar that lost it.I found a total of about 180 coins altogether,with $70 or so in spendable coins. By the time we left to come home the beach was returning to its normal mode,all the sand being washed back up to the high tide mark,but it sure was a great time while it lasted.

2nd and 3rd gold ring for the year.

I have been going to the beach after work to try and catch the super low tides,as it turns out most of what I have found came from either the dry sand of the half tide mark.
   Both the gold rings are 9kt and very small lady's rings.The mens chain and ring are both silver,the two other rings I initially thought were silver,but turns out they are both silver plated brass.
   Three people stopped and spoke to me over the last few days,all of them had storys to tell of lost jewellery etc,one guy lost his very expensive silver ring on news years eve,and asked if I could help him find it,turns out he new exactly were it was,so of we go up the beach about 1km,I spent the next 2 hours and 2 hours the following evening looking for it.But it had either already been found or he had got the wrong area of beach,being silver it should have been easy to find.
 Anyone ever seen that Hawaiin coin before it called a hilo dollar,looks to me like its been hit with a lawnmower.

First gold for the year

My finds since coming back from Aus

Well here we are back in NZ,bought another house and we are both back working hard,the aim is to hit the road again at some stage (when the bank account is back in the healthy stage).I left the Xterra back in Aussie,sold it to a friend,that was a real hard decision as they are in my mind, one of the best detectors ever made,but since buying the Etrac it was not getting used.
  I meet a few interesting detector users over there and picked up lots of tips for any future gold hunting trips,but in the mean time I have been getting back out at the Mt beaches and parks,as can be seen in the pics,a bit of silver and two white gold rings (the toe ring and the small wedding ring).
 The charm bracelett had me going for a bit,but unfortunately is junk.The halfcrown,penny's and old bullets came from an old park that is not very well known all the crusty coins came from a spot at the beach I stumbled across they kept me busy for about three hours.......may the summer be good to you all....  jim

Selling it becouse I don't need these items any more.

Paid $6,500 AU (each) in 2010, made in Australia. Very Little used since(I found some pieces of gold with these Beautiful Machines in Ballarat,Vic.Australia ).
The serial number is no longer visable on these items,sorry, please don't ask for it.
Photos are of the actual unit you are biding—notice that the control panels, displays, and switches are clean and just like new! All electrical connectors are in excellent shape for trouble-free use.
This metal detector was carefully used about 2-3 years ago and operates and looks exactly like a new machine(see the photos). TheLi-ion battery is in very good conditios and all the other parts too and the all unit is in very good conditions working order,as new!.

A bit of Gold from the Gold Coast

We are now at Surfers staying with Son and GF,( ahhh its great to be living with the kids,eat all their food and shower as long as you want haha ) I have been hammering the beaches here,but it is very hard going, they had a massive storm here a while ago but now the beaches are very sanded up,as they trucked in tons of sand to replace that they lost to the storm.
 The local MDers had a ball at the time,apparently detecting all night and getting loads of goodies that were lost many years ago.The large bracelet is marked "ITALY" and stamped 325 -1/10- 925 I guess that means it is 9/10ths 9kt gold and 1/10 silver and weighs 6.5 gms.The other  wee bracelet is unmarked but sure has the appearance of gold.The rest are just normal currency (one kiwi dollar and a one pound coin),the watch was an eyeball find and goes great. And two more cars for the stable.
  Most days there are other detectorists on the beach so they do get a hammering in the height of the season.
