My last detect in NZ for a while

Hi all,we are back at the Mount for a few days,put the camper and ute into storage and heading off to Aussie for the arrival of our first grandchild (finally).And all going well we will stay there for the winter and do some fruit picking or what ever comes along.Or may buy a GPX and go bush (haha).
  I had a few spare hours so headed to the beach on the low tide,I tried a new technique,just marked out an area of sand and concentrated on that area but super slowly,the results were interesting the first signal was a 12-17,normally I would not dig this as it would be a teartab.But surprise surprise a nice 9kt mans ring,The nice silver ring rang up 12-42,unfortunatly the stones are glass but still a nice ring.
   Hopefully my next post will include some AU $ and with a bit of luck some gold to bring home.

Some nice silver coins

We stayed at Waihi for a night,lots of old houses here  with untouched back yards,just itching to be detected on.I spent a bit of time at an old park an came up with the old silver coins and a few pennys,strange thing is that the pennys don't match the years of the silver coins,I suspect there may have been a fair here in the early days,the ground has been turned over at some stage and all the coins were well spread out,I initially thought the ring was a goodie but a quick clean changed that,all the silver coins cleaned up real well as can be seen.

  

Talk about a stroke of luck

We stopped at a small beach on the eastern side of lake Taupo,It is just a small picnic area generally only used by fishermen,skiers etc,I said to my wife I will just give this beach a quick detect be back in 15 minutes (yeah right),10 minutes later the first signal I got was a 12-13 and it was a tear tab,20 seconds later another 12-13,feeling not to enthused I dug my toes into the sand and gave it a flick,and out pops this nice wee ladys ring,well I spent another 30 minutes on that beach without any results.Sure did make my day.There is no karat markings on it but no doubt it is gold.With three sapphires.

Gold on the Waikato

Stayed a night at Mangakino,Wow this place sure has changed,lots of Aucklanders and folks from Wellington have baches here and come for the weekend, water skiing,etc.Sure are some cheap homes around here,I had a bit of a detect along the river bank early in the morning before the boaties arrived and it certainly was well worth while,the lake levels are very low at the moment making it pretty easy to access the deeper levels.The two gold rings are both 9kt,as you can see I think one must have gone through a boat propeller,the two silvers are both 925.I even found a penny or two and three one shillings.The two bullet thing is a cigarette lighter that has seen better days.Sure have to wonder about all the other goodies that are in this river and along the edges of the banks left over from the early days.

Gold?

I had a detect back at Whangaparoa (Algies beach),At a guess this beach is pretty well picked over,as the usual finds of $1 and $2 coins just were not there,So I slowed right down to a snails pace and dug virtually every signal but ferrous,The earring was 8" down and although it is not marked other than a makers name (Reola) At least I think that is the name its a bit faded,also managed the two STD dog tags and a few dollars that were down real deep.

Just what I needed (more lead)

I went back to the old boat ramp,expecting a repeat of last weeks performance,(two gold rings).
 Funny how easy it is to get over confident.As I had only detected a small portion of this place I was full of confidence,well after 3 hours I was completely deflated.But still managed around $22 in goldies and the usual older decimals.Not sure what the wee badge is maybe an old girlguide badge or similar.And of course more sinkers to top up my swelling supply...

Gold silver and more lead

Wow, am I ever having a great run,but I know it wont last, but great while it does.We are at a West coast beach that is pretty productive ,the two golds are both 9kt,also 3 silver rings and 3 cheapies.Managed $18 in spendables and an assortment of older decimals and even a few pre decimals coins and llllllots more sinkers yippeeee.
