18kt

Hi all,

Went to Waihi beach for the  night, thought I would take the 'tector along for a ride, well what a coincidence it was low tide and the sea was flat as,found a few coins amongst them was a Fijian $1 coin (sure have to wonder how these foreign coins turn up) .To be honest I didn't get as much as I thought I would, but there is another guy that works this area,as I was walking along a young couple shyly approached me and asked if I could help them find his wedding ring as it had slipped of his finger, well 40 secinds later they had it back again lots of smiles allround, would you believe half an hour later I uncoved the mens 18kt ring....(yes now I do believe in karma)  almost forgot also found a new digging tool.....cheers jim

  2. Boy they were lucky to have you right there on the spot to help out... shows you there must be quite alot of rings and the like lost like that.. and yes there is a guy that lives at Waihi that detects... my dad lives there and sees him in the parks... still he hasnt found everything I usually pick up a few nice things when I go down.. Though that will be ending soon dads moving... up to Whangarie, so I'll have fun up there instead.

  4. Yip found the ring in the wet sand, but above the water line.Although the xterra's are not that flash in the wet,I find by turning the sens way down to stop the falsing and listen to those subtle changes it can be quite productive, the only problem is by turning down the sens I also lose considerable depth. That is why I am after a multi frequency detector. But the xterra is a killer in the dry sand and at parks etc.

  5. The etrac sure is stable in the wet.. in fact I dont notice any difference, sensitivity is the same... Its a different machine to the vlfs.. going slow its like magic with how much it picks up.. though with my f4 I can rush around picking up easy Gold coins fast. Now sure is a good time to buy too

  6. Thanks for all the comments,Brett did you bring in your etrac from the states,Kellco and a few others I have tried won't post outside the usa,I get the impression minelab have a price fixing code that relates to the amount of competion in each country....

I just googled a few of the detector resellers then emailed.... the big places wont send them ( had a long discussion with someone from kellyco, she wouldnt believe that people in NZ had purchased them.... the standard price everywhere was $1498 us I got mine for $1298.. without any of the free stuff the load you with.. Just got the etrac with the two battery pack/ holders and the headphones.

  9. I think your right Jim. Minelab do have a price scheme which I think is designed to protect their local distributor in each country. Last February I managed to land my E Trac from the USA for a little under $2000NZ all up,including a pro pointer and Lesche tool. It would be even less now of course.
