Gold on the Waikato

Stayed a night at Mangakino,Wow this place sure has changed, lots of Aucklanders and folks from Wellington have baches here and come for the weekend, water skiing, etc.Sure are some cheap homes around here,I had a bit of a detect along the river bank early in the morning before the boaties arrived and it certainly was well worth while, the lake levels are very low at the moment making it pretty easy to access the deeper levels. The two gold rings are both 9kt,as you can see I think one must have gone through a boat propeller, the two silvers are both 925.I even found a penny or two and three one shillings. The two bullet thing is a cigarette lighter that has seen better days.Sure have to wonder about all the other goodies that are in this river and along the edges of the banks left over from the early days.
